Annual scientific conferences at the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Hetman’s Capital” were launched in 2003. During this period, the following conferences were held:
- May 2003 – scientific conference “Kyrylo Rozumovsky – the last hetman of Ukraine”, on the occasion of the 275th anniversary of the birth and 200th anniversary of the death of K.G. Rozumovsky;
- May 2004 – international scientific conference to the 10th anniversary of the creation of the reserve and the 295th anniversary of the death of Hetman I.S. Mazepa;
- June 2005 – scientific conference dedicated to the 230th anniversary of the birth of P. Prokopovych;
- September 2006 – scientific conference “Cultural and religious development of the Hetmanate of the late 17th – early 18th centuries”;
- May-June 2007 – IX Baturyn Readings “Cossack Foremen of the Late 17th – Early 18th Centuries”, dedicated to the 335th anniversary of the birth of Pylyp Orlyk;
- June 2009 – X Baturyn Readings “Baturyn and His Role in the History of the Ukrainian Cossack State”;
- May 2011 – XI Baturyn Readings “Monasteries as Religious, Cultural, Educational and Economic Centers of the Hetmanate Era”;
- June 2013 – XII Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 285th anniversary of the birth of K.G. Rozumovsky and the 20th anniversary of the creation of the National Research and Development Center “Hetman’s Capital”;
- June 2014 – XIII Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 375th anniversary of the birth of I.S. Mazepa;
- November 2016 – XIV Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 340th anniversary of the unification of Ukraine under the rule of Hetman I. Samoilovych;
- June 2018 – XV Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the election of D. Ignatovych as Hetman of Ukraine and the 25th anniversary of the creation of the National Reserve “Hetman’s Capital”;
- June 2019 – XVI Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Hetman’s capital in Baturyn.
- June 2021 – XVII Baturyn Readings.
- June 2023 – XVIII Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the National Reserve “Hetman’s Capital”.
- June 2025 – 19th Baturyn Readings, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city of Baturyn, the 100th anniversary of the opening of the P. Prokopovych Public Museum in Baturyn, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Baturyn Historical and Local Lore Museum.
Since 2006, the reserve has been publishing materials approved at conferences. Since 2008, a collection of scientific articles “Baturyn Antiquities” has been published.
Since 2012, the National Reserve “Hetman’s Capital” has been a co-organizer of the International Spassky Scientific Readings. The Spassky Readings, dedicated to the famous natives of Nizhyn, brothers Ivan and Feodosii Spassky, were launched in 2010 by the Nizhyn Local Lore Museum named after I. Spassky, the Center for Monument Studies and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Nizhyn State University named after M. Gogol, and the Nizhyn City Council.
2012 – II Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the birth of F.G. Spassky.
2014 – III Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of I.G. Spassky.
2016 – IV Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Eugenia Spasskaya and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Nizhyn Museum of Local Lore.
2018 – V Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the museum activity of I.G. Spassky and the 25th anniversary of the creation of the National Reserve “Hetman’s Capital”.
2020 – VI Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Nizhyn Public Museum, the 400th anniversary of the Nizhyn Cossack Registered Regiment and the 395th anniversary of the founding of the Baturyn Fortress due to strict quarantine restrictions, were held in absentia. Materials tested during the International Spassky Scientific Readings were published in issues of the collection of scientific works “Nizhyn Antiquity” (founders – the Center for Monument Studies of the NAS of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments).
2022 – VII Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of E.Yu. Spassky and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Nizhyn Research Department of the History of Culture and Language, were held online.
2024 VIII Spassky Readings, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of I. Spassky and 355 years of the founding of the Hetman’s residence in Baturyn.
